Long out of print, Vital Lacerda's great game about global warming is back with a new format in the Italian edition! Will you be able to stop global warming in time or will it be the end?
We are proud to present CO2: Second Chance New Edition : the famous board game by Vital Lacerda is back in stock after being out of stock for a long time. The game is for 1-4 players aged 14 and up and lasts approximately 90 minutes.
This new edition of the game has a new box, larger and of the same format as the other Lacerda games, a new more spacious tray, an updated rulebook that includes game variants to modulate the difficulty of the game. Here you can also buy the set of the three expansions of the game and the new metal coins redesigned for this edition.
CO2: Second Chance New Edition includes both the game competitive That cooperative , which is the mode solitaire . In the cooperative game, players must work together to save the world, losing victory points whenever they fail to achieve their common goals.
In the 1970s , governments around the world faced unprecedented energy demand and polluting power plants were built everywhere to meet that demand. Year after year, the pollution they generate increased and no one did anything to reduce it. Now, the impact of this pollution has become too great and humanity is starting to realize that it is necessary to meet our energy demands through clean energy sources.
Companies with experience in clean and sustainable energy are therefore called upon to propose projects that provide the necessary energy without polluting the environment. Governments are eager to finance these projects and invest in their implementation.
If pollution is not stopped, it will be " Game Over " for all of us!
In CO2: Second Chance , each player is the CEO of an energy company responding to government demands to build new power plants. The goal is to make a profit while stopping the rise of pollution.
Hydroelectric power plant and forestry plant.
A game of CO2: Second Chance lasts 4 or 5 decades; in each decade players take turns for a certain number of turns, depending on the number of players.
During the game, participants must build and develop "green" power plants. to meet the energy demands of all regions of the world. If there is not enough green electricity, then these regions will build fossil fuel-fired power plants to fill the gap, but this will increase global pollution .
If pollution reaches 500 ppm , the game ends and all players lose the game.
To build an eco-friendly power plant, three steps are necessary in succession:
1. PROPOSE A PROJECT
You propose a "green" energy project for a region and in return, the region provides a grant. The region becomes the owner of the project, which can be started by any player's company.
Wind Farm Proposed for South America.
2. PREPARE THE INFRASTRUCTURE
A new and modern "green" power plant needs equally advanced infrastructure to support it and distribute its energy. The infrastructure must therefore be prepared for the project, which provides both immediate and long-term benefits and lays the foundation for the construction of the power plant.
The red player prepares the infrastructure for the power plant.
3. BUILD THE POWER PLANT
Once the infrastructure is ready, the eco-friendly power plant proposed by the project can then be built.
Now the Wind Farm is built.
In order to build the best possible power plants, you need to increase your knowledge by specializing in hydroelectricity, solar, or another type of eco-friendly energy source. One way to gain knowledge is to have your scientists study proposed projects; another is to have them attend Green Energy Summits.
The more knowledge a company has, the more income (money or victory points) it will get at the end of each turn. Another way to earn money is to gain control of the region by building more green power plants than other players.
In the competitive game mode , while it is hoped that all players will achieve the goal of saving the world from pollution, the player with the most victory points will win the game.
In co-op mode, players work together to save the world and lose victory points each turn they fail to achieve their goals. If they get negative points, or pollution reaches 500 ppm , or some UN Goals are not completed, all players lose the game.
Hydroelectric Power Plant.
The Global Events expansion is available for use in competitive play. This is a cataclysmic event that affects the entire planet: each region will require a decisive response to react to the gravity of the situation!
During the event phase, if the current event or upcoming event is the global event, you will only resolve the global event and delay the other event until the next decade. This expansion will drastically increase CO2 if players are not prepared. It will also penalize players by consuming their resources and CEP.
Arctic Expansion . The Arctic is particularly vulnerable to the effects of global warming, as is evident from the melting of the ice in recent years. Climate models predict much greater warming in the Arctic than the global average!
The Arctic expansion consists of 1 tile with the Arctic region, 1 Arctic event tile, 1 objective card for the competitive version, 1 Arctic environmental event tile and 1 private objective card for the cooperative version.
There is no limit to the number of power plants that can be built there. The region comes into play at the beginning of the second Decade and CO2 pollution increases the number of steps equal to the current Decade number, minus the number of power plants built there up to that point.
This expansion gives you more objectives to pursue, a new region to play, and like the Global Event, increases the difficulty level of the game making it more challenging. The combination of both expansions leaves you with more options for greater replayability and different difficulty levels.
Special Projects Expansion . This expansion works in both cooperative and competitive play, and changes the rules for projects to encourage alternative strategies.
The 6 large expansion tiles are placed randomly on the Project space on the board, as shown in the illustration. Each time you propose a project in a region, the Project tile must be placed on the leftmost empty project space.
Vital Lacerda: " I love this expansion, in the cooperative game it makes me think about so many new possible tactics to do in the game, while in the competitive game it allows me a lot of new opportunistic moves ... I cross my fingers that this improvement can be unlocked. You will love playing it! "
