Scythe is a miniatures game set in a timeline parallel to our own, in the 1920s, at the end of World War I. The game is by Jamey Stegmaier , the author of Viticulture, and the beautiful graphics and worldbuilding are by Jakub Rozalsky.
The Age of Scythe is an age of agriculture and war, broken hearts and rusty gears, innovation and valor. In Scythe, each player represents a miniature character attempting to make their faction the richest and most powerful in Eastern Europe. Players explore and conquer the land, recruit new recruits, produce new resources and workers, build structures, and deploy monstrous Mechs. A game of Scythe typically begins with players building their infrastructure, exploring the world, and then engaging in battle.
The game unfolds as players place stars (achieved objectives) on the board and ends when a player places the sixth star on the Triumph Track. To obtain a star, one of the following objectives must be achieved: 1) complete all 6 upgrades; 2) deploy all 4 Mechs; 3) build all 4 structures; 4) recruit all 4 recruits; 5) have all 8 workers on the board; 6) reveal 1 completed objective card; 7) win a combat (up to 2 times); 8) have 18 Popularity Points; 9) have 16 Power Points.
