Baseball Highlights 2045: Bases Loaded Edition

The Bases Loaded Edition contains all previously released game content and the All-Star expansion.

American baseball was on its last legs as a spectator sport. Football had become the dominant national pastime, at least until 2032, when baseball decided to revolutionize the game and reclaim the throne!

Starting in 2032, baseball games were shortened to six innings. Pitchers were encouraged to get bionic arms to improve their pitching. These cyborgs, or affectionately called "Borgs," became instantly popular and soon dominated the league. In 2041, robotic fielders were introduced to bring the offense back to the field. These robots were similar to designated hitters in that they were only used to bat and not field. However, recent reports indicate that fielding "Bots" are on the way.

Now in 2045, human players are still in the game and are known as Naturals. They are by far the best defensive players, but are severely challenged when it comes to hitting and pitching. Some Naturals have learned to hit by swinging before the pitcher starts his charge, which gives them a chance to hit the ball. Although it is difficult for a Natural to break into the league, those who do are popular. Many Naturals have named themselves after pre-2032 baseball greats, borrowing a first and last name from several great players of the past. The fans love them and their presence on the team brings in good money!

The stage is set! The fans are pumped and cheering for their new favorites, whether they are 'Bots', 'Borgs or Naturals!

Baseball Highlights: 2045 is like watching television highlights of early 21st century baseball games, with richly themed gameplay, no outs or innings, and no bogged down in a play-by-play baseball simulation. In this fast-paced, interactive game, two players build their teams as they play, combining strategy (team building) and tactics (gameplay) with no downtime. During each “mini-game,” each player takes turns playing six cards to simulate the highlights of a full game. The mini-game features both defensive and offensive plays, and your single-card plays can include elements of defensive and/or offensive play. Do you try to counter your opponent’s hold-ups, launch a powerful offensive play of your own, or use your best players to do both? Players acquire new free agents after each mini-game to improve their roster, and the team that wins the most mini-games in the series is the champion!
