War has come to the wild world. For millennia, animals have faced shifting alliances and the cycle of seasons, but they have never faced an enemy like this. An army of machines fueled by corrupted magic is rampaging through the forests, surrounding everything in their path and harnessing the heat of the world. Throughout the swamps, plains, mountains, and forests, squads of defenders form to resist the machine occupation. The partisans belong to four factions, each determined to fight back in their own way: the Council with its strength of spirit and bread, the Order with its wisdom of the flame, the Sect with its ingenious inventions, and the Coven with its spells and subterfuge.

Choose one of four available factions and assemble your team of defenders, with a wide range of animal characters to resist the machines, on a modular map that changes with each match.
Players assemble their crews by drawing defender cards, each corresponding to a faction and habitat type. Each card features a unique animal character that allows the player to perform various actions, such as moving, clearing pollution, fighting mechs, building camps, and healing, on an illustrated, modular hex-based map.
Different combinations of defender cards from different factions allow for varied strategies and approaches in order to achieve objectives and fight the machines.
A machine deck controls the expansion of machines and their development on the board. As they surround habitats, they build factories and send out hunter mechs, leaving a trail of walls and pollution in their wake. If players manage to build all of their camps and revive machine factories before the last factory is built, all players win the game together.

Can the Defenders unite to heal the land and overcome a seemingly impossible foe? Or will the woods succumb to an endless industrial winter?
