Everdell Duo by Starling Games is part of the board games in the two-player category. Created by A. Wilson, James A. Wilson and on sale on our e-commerce site in English (but with low language dependence) , playable by 1-2 players . The duration of a game is about 30 minutes . Suitable for ages 10 and up .
Rule your forested city wisely to ensure your citizens are happy, buildings are constructed properly, and numerous events take place to celebrate your triumphs!
Everdell Duo can be played competitively or cooperatively in the campaign mode, where players work together to complete chapter-by-chapter challenges. To do this, you place workers and collect resources, then use those resources to play cards face-up in front of you, creating your own city in the woods.
Cards can be played from the hand or from the face-up area of the board called the meadow. However, only cards touching the sun or moon token can be played from the meadow, and players move these tokens each time they take a turn. Therefore, planning and timing of which cards to play is crucial.
In each game there will be Events that you will try to accomplish. The requirements for these Events will be different from game to game, making certain cards and combinations more important to pursue.
The game lasts for 4 seasons. At the end, players add up their scores to determine the winner. If you are playing in co-op, check the requirements for the chapter you chose to see if you have won.
In the campaign, each player has their own hand of cards and their own supply of resources, but they build a city together. You can't tell the other player what cards you have in your hand, but you can tell them what kind of cards and resources you would like to have. This is important, because there is a system of sharing with your partner, but it is limited. In this way, it is essential that players work together and discuss their actions, creating a very rewarding game when working as a team. But if you don't have a partner to play with, the campaign can also be played alone.
To pack even more gameplay into this little box, a Challenge mode has been added, which can be played solo or in co-op and features an artificial opponent to face and try to beat, but also 10 different achievements of varying difficulty to try to achieve, such as winning with no green Production cards in your city.
