Lisbon - Deluxe Edition

Lisboa is a game for 2-4 players by Vital Lacerda . Here is the English Deluxe version, also called the "King's Favorite" edition, which also includes all the enhancements unlocked in the crowdfunding campaign.

The game develops the reconstruction of the great Portuguese capital city, Lisbon, which was destroyed by a series of catastrophes in the 18th century. On November 1, 1755, Lisbon suffered an earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 8.5-9.0, followed by a devastating tsunami and 3 days of raging fires. The city was completely destroyed.

The Marquis of Pombal, Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, was then the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The King put him in charge of the reconstruction of Lisbon. The Marquis assembled a team of engineers and architects to help him in this reconstruction.

When planning the reconstruction project of the center, the type of activity of each street was predetermined. So the watchmakers and goldsmiths were assigned to a place, as well as the bookshops and libraries, the tailors and silk sellers and also the workshops. All this is found on the board of the Lisboa game.

The players represent the nobility of Lisbon and must use their influence to rebuild and develop the trade of the new city.

To rebuild the city, players will need to make use of the Royal Builder, who will work alongside the architects, while the Marquis will provide important assistance in developing trade. Finally, the King will give players the political help needed to create a beautiful new city.

But the real reason that will push the players to rebuild Lisbon will not be the desire for greatness, fame or fortune, but, as for every nobleman or noblewoman of Lisbon who respects himself, the desire to acquire wigs!!! Wigs were indeed one of the most important and expensive goods of the time, but, what matters, they are the means to score points in the game in Lisboa.
