Life in the Backcountry

In a not-too-distant future, the world we know has become a memory overrun by nature. Life in Reterra invites you to immerse yourself in a transformed universe, where the goal is to rebuild and adapt using every available resource. In this game of (re)construction, each player is called upon to build their own community. You can choose from three ready-to-use themed building sets or create a custom set. Each set consists of five building cards and their corresponding building tiles, ready to transform your vision into reality.

Each player starts with a square terrain tile in play, divided into a 2x2 grid with different types of terrain. Some spaces may contain a gear icon or one of the four types of relics. In hand, players have three terrain tiles, while five tiles are exposed face up. During your turn, choose a tile from your hand or the display and add it to your community, which can span up to four tiles on each side. If the tile has a gear, you can place a villager from the supply on this gear or place a building tile in your community. Each part of the building must be supported by a gear, and all of these gears must be on the same type of terrain. Once you build a building, you gain the power of the building card and can use it on each of your subsequent turns, for example, by placing relic tokens for extra points or removing an opponent's relics.
