Cities on the Moon! This will be the crowning achievement of humanity. Finally, no longer tethered to Earth: the moon, a springboard to the stars. Rockets are loaded with supplies and colonists; robots are programmed and ready. Everything has been planned down to the smallest detail and there is no possibility of failure. To the moon!
Moon Colony Bloodbath is a build-and-lose engine tableau game, with a shared deck that players build that makes things happen, many of which are bad things that kill people on your moon colony, but some of which are good things, and some of which allow you to build.
More specifically, each turn a card is revealed from the shared deck, which starts with four Job cards, two Trouble cards, and two Plot Twists. For Jobs, each player takes an action of their choice at the same time: mine money, grow food, research cards, build a new building, or restock building boxes. Plot Twists vary from game to game. Trouble adds a new Event card to the deck: Hunger, Paperwork, Glitches, Accidents, Losses, Power Outages—anything that can go wrong will go wrong, so every time the deck is shuffled, you can prepare for all those events again.
Players can also add cards to the shared deck, whether they have advantages that are exclusive to them or developments that affect all players.
The game lasts until a player's lunar colony has no people left, or until players reach the bottom of the event deck. At that point, the player with the most survivors wins.
