Race of the Galaxy is a card game set in the distant future where players race to build and expand their own stellar empire.
Exploration, Colonization, Progress, Trade, Resource Consumption or Production? What will you need the most? Which Earth colony will be most successful in colonizing the galaxy now that the Hyperspace Jump has been discovered? Who will reveal the secrets of the mysteriously disappeared Alien Overlords? Build the most prosperous and powerful space empire!
In the Race for the Galaxy card game, players build galactic civilizations by playing cards representing worlds or technical and social developments in front of them. Some worlds allow players to produce goods, which can be consumed later to gain card draws or victory points when the appropriate technologies are available. These are primarily provided by developments and worlds that are unable to produce, but even the most elaborate production worlds give these bonuses. At the start of each round, players each secretly and simultaneously choose one of seven roles that correspond to the phases through which the round progresses. By selecting a role, players activate that phase for this round, giving each player the opportunity to perform that phase's action. For example, if a player chooses the colonization role, each player has the opportunity to settle one of the planets from their hand. The player who chose the role, however, gets a bonus that applies only to him. But bonuses can also be acquired through developments, so you need to be aware when another player also benefits from your choice of role.
