Azul is a game for 2-4 people (aged 8 and up) and has an average duration of 30-45 minutes .
Introduced by the Moors, azulejos (originally blue and white ceramic tiles) arrived in Portugal when King Manual I, visiting the legendary Alhambra in southern Spain, was literally struck by the beauty of the decorative Moorish ceramics. The King, struck by the beauty of those seen at the Alhambra, immediately ordered that his palace in Portugal be decorated with similar tiles. As an artist skilled in this field, you were challenged to embellish the walls of the Royal Palace of Evora.
In Azul , players will take colored tiles from their suppliers to place on their respective boards. They can then score points based on how they place their tiles to decorate the palace. Extra points are scored for specific designs and by completing sets; used supplies penalize the player's score. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
