In Molly House , players take on the roles of mollies , gender-defying figures in early 18th-century London. Stage lavish masquerades and navigate hidden alleys, trying to evade the moralistic constables who seek to destroy your community. But be careful: there may be informers among you!

Over the course of an hour of gameplay, players will select vice cards, representing gestures, desires, and encounters condemned by the Society for the Reformation of Manners , a group of citizens determined to repress any behavior deemed deviant in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. These cards allow players to organize celebrations with the help of the other mollies , spreading joy and celebration. However, the same cards can lead to the arrest and ultimate downfall of the molly house .

During the game, players will have to deal with agents of the Society , paying bribes or, in some cases, being forced to become informants. Informants will have to try to secretly sabotage the community of Mother Clap's Molly House , while avoiding being exposed by the other mollies .
