As is the Stonemaier tradition, Finspan 's production is of the highest quality. The fish cards are beautifully illustrated and include interesting tidbits about the marine world, just as the birds did in Wingspan .

The egg, fry and school of fish tokens are simple yet functional, with double-sided printing that allows you to hatch the eggs simply by turning them over !

Simple Rules, Strategic Depth 📜

Compared to its predecessors, Finspan is the most accessible and quickest to teach. The mechanics have been simplified:

✅ No extra resources to manage to play fish cards, just discard other cards or pay for eggs and fry.

✅ Greater flexibility : Predatory fish can be played on top of smaller fish, which become points at the end of the game.

✅ No forced placement order , leaving more strategic freedom to players.

✅ Quick and plannable shifts , thanks to little direct interaction and clear and intuitive iconography.

Finspan retains the charm and elegance of Wingspan's gameplay , but makes it more streamlined and immediate. The pace of the game is fast , with 6 actions per round, for a total of 24 actions before the final count.

Finspan is a gem for those looking for a more immediate experience than the previous titles, without sacrificing strategic depth. If I had to choose between all the games in the series... Finspan would probably be my favorite! 💙
